BFR on Today in Global Health Programme

It was a privilege to be invited onto the Today in Global Health programme on Lagos Talks 91.3 FM. This was a fanastic opportunity to discuss how the project is using art to generate new perspectives on maternal care in Nigeria. During the conversation, Emilia explained how some forms of education and social support for girls and women of childbearing age have been lost due to the waning popularity of 'fattening rooms' in Nigeria's Cross River region. Speaking to these concerns, our project puts the image of the 'fattening room' maiden in conversation with women's lived experiences in the region to better understand the (often long-term and sometimes concealed) regimes of care that encourage better maternal healthcare outcomes in the clinic.

Thanks to the Today in Global Health hosts for the invitation and for their encouragement with the next stages of the project.
